I've had my Acer Aspire labtop for almost two years now and it is still running great, the only strange thing is that since yesterday the keyboard volume controls (FN + arrow up or arrow down) has stopped working to adjust the volume. Nor can I mute/unmure (FN+F8). There is nothing wrong with the function key as I can still adjust the brightness using it.

This is most strange - any ideas?

Thanks for support, I did what you asked, but without changes. For a few days I had in mind to re-install windows 7, and so I did today. After I installed the energy management software, anyting worked great, all the hotkeys. After that I installed the winamp program and tried to lower the volume and voila..didn't worked the hotkey, so I found the problem. As a removed the winamp, started again to work the hotkey. I never had this problem before, I have this PC for more than 2 years and never caused me this kind of troubles. Tried to install another winamp, but as I started to install, the hotkey stops to respond. Any thoughts? :)

I try that and there was no launch manager in there. So it did not work but I just fixed my problem I found out from another site. Here is what fixed my problem I went to the acer website and downloaded the launch manager for my pc. Even though that on my pc it say i still had another version. I launch manger installed i clicked install any way and after it install it asked to restart pc, and I clicked yes and now everything is working fine again. The volume go's up and down and mutes brightness works. Hope that helps

I also have issues regarding with Fn Key + volume adjustment(Fn+left arrow/right), trying to lower or higher the music volume, and not reacting as it should. I have a Lenovo G550 model, and only with the volume I have a problem, the brightness, etc are workung properly. I have installed the Energy Management software, tryed earlier versions too, but with same results.
Any idea? pls

Hi ernoczi,

Try to uninstall and then reinstall the "Lenovo Energy Management Driver" and check if this package has any interface to control Fn key function. Earlier "Hotkeys Software" used to have this feature. You can download "Lenovo Energy Management Driver" from the below mentioned link:
