Formatting the laptop

Hello,
I am using HCL Laptop. I am using it from 3 years. Now my problem is
" WHEN I AM FORMATTING (with XP sp2) .. IT IS AUTOMATICALLY GOING TO SHUTDOWN... "

XP Instalation not supporting

But Vista Installed Sucessfully

My laptop config is 512 DDR2 RAM
HARD DISK IS 60 GB
INTEL CORE DUO Processor
Intel 945 chipset

Any one please reply for my problem

Hi nani, is the hard disk IDE or SATA?
