Hello,

I am unable to boot into windows.
I took my hard disk on another PC and there it worked perfect. I tested it for a day. Then came back and installed in my pc and same problem.
Basically these all i have already tried:
1.changed the ram
2.changed the SMPS
3.changed the motherboard
4.changed hard drive (brought my friends for testing, dint work)
5.changed the power cables (internal and external)
6.Ubuntu USB works wen hard disk is disconnected
7.Exchanged ram and hard drive from a working PC
8. Bios detects hard drive, Ram and processor

NONE worked for me

Ubuntu USB works only after diconnecting hard disk, if hard disk is connected it gives "disk read error"

WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY PC

Thanks

Hi dejavu,

Have you checked if the hard drive is detected in the BIOS? Try these steps and check if the hard drive gets detected:

1. Disconnect the power cable from the computer tower.
2. Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to remove the residual power.
3. Connect the Hard Drive to other ports (SATA/IDE) on the motherboard. If the Hard Drive is detected, one of the ports on the motherboard is bad. If the Hard Drive is still not detected follow the next step.
4. Try a different data cable and see if the Hard Drive is detected. If the Hard Drive is detected, the problem is with the cable and has to be replaced.

Note: The steps above require you to reseat the components by removing the system cover/taking apart the chassis. Please perform these steps only if you are comfortable else seek a technician's help. Also, refer to the Service Manual for accurate steps and safety instructions.

If the issue persists reply with the System Model Number of your computer or the Motherboard Model Number.

Please do write back to us.

Hi dejavu,

List of parts that you have replaced/swapped in the computer is sufficient to isolate the problem. In your first post you have mentioned that you changed the motherboard in the computer and still the problem persists. Replacing the motherboard eliminates the possibility of any major failure in the computer. I would like to know which motherboard (old/new) is currently in the computer. If you are using the old motherboard, please try to change the SATA operation in BIOS and see if the Hard Drive boots.

Do reply with results.
