So last night my Asus N81Vg fell from about 3 feet flat onto tile and at first it was fine. Then, opening too many tabs in opera caused massive slowdown and some freezing, so I shut down to restart. Now, the screen is totally black. It still boots (after having it for four years I know when it is trying to boot) though without most of the noise it usually makes when starting up and if left alone long enough it goes to sleep and Windows can resume. How can I fix my problem?

Hello,

Try this 1

If you notice that your CPU fan is running but there is no display in the screen,

then remove the RAM from the slot, clean it and place it back properly or try

another slot.

Hello,
Try this 1
If you are able to get the display in the external monitor then the problem might be with the inverter or the black light bulb. Check these connections and make sure that they are working.

Hello,
Sorry for the late reply. You can only check if they are connected firmly or not. You need to open
the front part of your screen. At the bottom of the screen inverter will be there and the backlight bulb near the screen. Click on the below hyperlinks to see how the inverter and the backlight bulb looks.
Inverter
Backlight Bulb
But you need to be careful. Inorder to check the condition of inverter and the backlight bulb you need to approach to your nearest service center. They will perform few troubleshooting by connecting another screen, changing the inverter etc.
Good Luck
