Hi prit10782,
Inspiron 1440 laptop is offered with one the following Wireless Cards:
1. Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN
2. Dell Wireless 1515 WLAN
3. Intel WiFi Link 5100
4. Intel WiFi Link 5300
So that I can try finding Window XP drivers, I need to know which of these cards is installed in your computer. Please reply with the Device Instance ID of the Wireless Card in the machine. To get the Device Instance ID:
1. Press the Windows + R key on the keyboard to launch the "Run" dialog box.
2. Type "devmgmt.msc" and hit "Enter".
3. "Device Manager" window will open.
4. Expand the "Network adapters".
5. Double click the listed wireless card. Click the "Details" tab.
6. Select Device Instance Path or Device Instance Id (whichever is available for your version of Windows) from the drop down box.
7. Write the version number down.

Hi prit10782,
The "Device Instance ID" you have provided is for the Ethernet Adapter. It is not the wireless adapter in the machine. Is this the only device listed under "Network Adapters" in "Device Manager"?
To know more about Dell's products, services and drivers & downloads, please go to http://dell.to/YBlak6

Hi prit10782
"VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&SUBSYS_000C1028&REV_01" is the Device Instance ID for Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card. You have correctly identified it. You can download the drivers from here. Install the drivers and reply with results.
