Hello,
Try this 1
First make sure that "Windows Audio" status is "Started" in "Services".
Click on Start --> In search bar, type services.msc and press Enter.
[Note : If you are using Windows XP then click on Start --> Run --> Type
services.msc and press Enter.]
"Services" window will be opened. At the right-side, scroll down for the service
named "Windows Audio". Its "Status" should be "Started".
Right-click on it and click on "Start" to start it.
If the problem still exist then install your audio drivers. You can download the
drivers from your manufacture's website.
OR
Let us know your PC\Laptop brand name and complete model number.

my windows audio is started and the problem persists, what do i do next please. my laptop brand is Compaq. and if you want me to download a new driver, what is the site and i do u get there and know the application to download. thank you
