Hp compaq 6710b hdd not Not Detected

Hello,

My laptop (hp compaq 6710b) was installed windows 7. but when i try to reinstall it win7 again then it's show hard disk drives is not installed. and it's give me a option for browse hdd location. and when i chose the hdd then it's show same masg.

if i tried to install windows xp i am getting following error.
Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.
Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer - supplied diagnostic or setup program.
Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3

and when i try to use fdisk from DOS cd. then i found 48GB hdd show and when i make a partision then it's show i have 120GB hdd. but it make partision based on 48GB.

and now, finaily i fail to install any OS on that hdd. i try XP & 7 both.

pls advice what i should do?

You probably need a NEW hard drive.

I don't think that. because after some change on BIOS "SATA" option i am able to install XP on that hdd!! But till now i unable to install win7 on that hdd. now i try to install again win7.

if you have any idea, then please advise me.
