Matching data from two spreadsheets

I have 2 spreadwheets. One is a master equipment list with info stored according to Equipment #.
The second is an invoice for equipment that is on the master list.
I need to find the record (row) on the master list that matches the invoice equipment# and then IF there is no date in the "observed" column then put that whole row on a 3rd spreadsheet.
Any help is appreciated.

try match function. if problem post small extract of data and explain again.
