When I plugged my laptop in there was a power surge (zapping sounds) and I think I fried my laptop. Wont boot up or turn on...light indicators show that its receiving power (shows 2 green lights then a orange one) . Sometimes can hear a very faint hum and have heard the fan kick on a couple of times BUT screen remains completely black. Is there anything I can do to get it back working....Unfortunately haven't done a recent backup either (I know-silly of me not to have!) Dont want to lose my media files/pictures that are on my laptop.

If you have fried the computer the hard drive may still be usable and still contain all your files.

I suggest you take it to a local repair shop for diagnosis.

Good Luck
