adding a day to the dateClosed

Question

I need a formula to add a day to the date. For example, today is Nov 22, 13; I want to add one day to have Nov 23, 13 in another cell. I saw a number of solutions in this forum but whatever I use, I get #value! mistake. I have MS Office 2010. My cells formatted as date (for the range where dates are). I tried two options. cell A1 - date, cell A2 - "1" (this cell formatted as number), the result in A3 has formula "=A1+A2". Another option I tried -  cell A1 - date, cell A2 has a formula "=A1+1". What I am going wrong? Thank you.

Hi gogo323,

You are following the right steps. I have tried the same and it works for me. Check the sample file below:

Add 1 to Date

You are receiving the #value! error because the value that you are entering in the cells contains text instead of date or numbers. For example instead of "Nov 23, 13" you are entering " Nov 23, 13".

Thank you for your response, but I am afraid I am explained myself not clearly enough. I am entering date in the cell that formatted as date, not text, and the result cell is also formatted as date. As you know, date can be formatted in many different ways. I tried many of them, 11/22/13 including. I still get the same error message. I even tried new blank Excel worksheet, in case the original one was corrupted. 

I hope there are other ideas around that can help me.
