Hello,
Try this 1
Connect your external drive --> Click on Start --> In search bar, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.
[If you are using Windows XP then click on Start --> Run --> Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.]
"Device Manager" will be opened. Is there any yellow mark? Also let us know the Operating System you are using.
