Computer randomly shuts off and monitor doesnt turn on

Ok so anyways, I was playing a game on my computer and all of a sudden it randomly turned off. So I attempted to restart it and now the monitor doesn't work. It keeps saying no signal. The computer itself turns on but not the monitor. A similar thing happened earlier in the year when I just turned it off regularly and the monitor did not work. We determined that the video card had died and today I got a new one. Any help?

And the graphics card was new. It is an nVidia geforce 550. Just got it.
