Hello, I have a toshiba and I am wanting to restore it back to factory, which I know to hold the zero down when it is loading. I have done that In the past. My husband did not like vista so he installed windows xp home edition a few years ago. I am wanting to clear everything off and put back to factory, but it's not working. What do I do? Thanks so much! Oh ya, he has an iPad and never uses the lap top anymore! ?

It's possible he reformatted your hard drive and deleted the recovery partition. That would account for the lack of response to start the recovery.

I agree with xpcman, the recovery partition was either deleted or corrupted when XP was installed over Vista.
