Connected to internet, can't use IE.

Hello,
I just had my computer recovered from a virus through the recovery partition. I installed my wireless router and now my computer says that it has a full signal from the router, but when I click on IE it says that the server can't be found. I have read through many of the other questions about this and none of their advice has worked for me. i have tried shutting down all firewalls and uninstalled alarmzone. The other two laptops that I have are working just fine. I am about to throw my computer through the window! Is there anything you can tell me in plain english about how to fix this? I am soooooooo desperate!
