Hello,

I am trying to write a formula in Excel that tells me how many times a text appears within a date range, i have managed to create the date range below

=COUNTIF($A$2:$A$65536,">="&DATE(2008,12,1))-COUNTIF($A$2:$A$65536,">="&DATE(2008,12,31))

however i need to add to this that it should only included the lines in this range on a seperate column where the text reads "Lead Lost"

Please help as i am ready to through my poor computer out the window and its not his fault :0)

Thanks in advance

Is lead lost in a column? then is just "lead lost" and it will only count where the phrase appears, you might have to define the column i would suggest becoming a member of mr excel (you can google it) they are very helpful and excel gods

yes "Lead Lost" is in a column but I have a list of dates also and i need to know how many "Lead Lost" appear in Dec-08 for example, I can not use a pivot table for this as there are also over text that I need to count within the month periods an example of this would be
Column a has
1/12/08
2/12/08
4/3/09
2/2/09
1/3/09

Column b has
Lead Lost
Lead Won
Opportuntiy outstanding
Lead Lost
Lead Won

so i would want to count that we had
Month Lead Lost Lead Won Opportunity Outstanding
Dec 08 1 1 0
Jan-09 0 0 0
Feb-09 1 0 0
Mar-09 0 1 1

can you help?

thank you
