HP Laptop won't start

When I turn it on - it stays on for about 5 seconds, then turns off for 5 seconds, then on 5 seconds, etc etc.

remove ram & battery hold down power button for 30seconds(make sure you keep your finger on the button)put ram back in but leave battery out plug in ac adapter and power it up.

You obviously have a power supply issue. I recommend you see a hands-on technician.
