I suggest you test with another computer. I suspect you have a failed hard drive that needs to be replaced.

Probably not. It's very hard to recover data if the drive can't be opened. You can try some of the free recovery trial software.

type in run box diskmgmt.msc check to see if the drive is shown in the list
does it have a drive "Letter"? is it ntfs file system?
you can right click on the drive disk partition click properties click tools and click errorcheck button
