Headphone jack

Hello,

When I insert my headphone, it doesn't work..
I've tried more than one, even speakers, bur nothing works..
My headphones do work on phones..
Is the hole maybe broken?
Oh and I have a Gateway with windows 8

Start in your device manager, and see if you have a sound device. If it is not in the manager, than check your drivers. If it is and it says that it is working, try to see if you are muted, or if volume is all the way down. You will be surprised at how simple things are to overlook.
