Are you sure that isn't your desktop, without any "jewels" on it. Move your cursor down into the left bottom corner, and wait there. Does anything pop up? Try to right click in the same corner and see if any dialoge/drop down list shows up. It is pssible all of the "jewels" have been removed by previous user, or your desktop contains no apps or files!

Let us know!

Yes sir.

I hope that you do not think that I think you are an idiot! Please do not! It is tough to troubleshoot and give direction with limited "clues", or indications of normal.

Safe mode was going to be my next step. You are going in the right direction!

i meant to do a LOL after my stupid statement....
thanks for your help in this
i did get it working, and just to let people know what i did,I will try to say it here
going in to safe mode on windows 8 is different then all others
in shut down window, you have to hover over restart and hold down the (shift key) and then tap restart
keep holding down key till window come up
in that window go to troubleshooting, tap on that
go to refresh and tap on that
that will give you on screen instructions

Ok, now that you have got that one solved, update to 8.1. IT is free and it will fix alot of the issue 8 was shipped with!

Thank you for sticking in there with us. And most importantly, letting us in and the fix! Do you need a (volunteer) job?

Cool glad you got it fixed!
