Hi,
Sorry, the answer was in the title...
Normally, you write nothing for the username, and admin for the password.
If it doesn't work try with nothing for the two fields.
Tell me if that's ok.

I was able to do that as noted in my first post. The thing is, when I do that I'm only shown one screen with no tabs. Prior when my password worked I was shown multiple tabs and options for configuration. Why does this Admin password only give one simple screen. I'm not able to change passwords or any setting besides the limited admin page.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Hi,
You told me you reseted your router.
Maybe you "lost" all the upgrades... or made it bug.
Try one more time time to reset it, by pressing 30 seconds on the power button, then if it doesn't work again just see if you can access to the tab "administration" then "firmware upgrade".
If you can go to this step, follow these instructions.
You'll find the last firmware to download here.
See you.

The "power Button" is that the the cicso systems button on the front left? I held that for 30 seconds but it never went off, it just blinked.

I think the firmware upgrade is the good way to follow.
As said here.

Hi,
Can you access to the tab "administration" then "firmware upgrade"?
Have you tried with Winrar or 7zip?
You can also try with the V7.
Don't worry, I'm often here on the forum (this is the beggining for me in english), and we'll work it out.
Bye.

I said:

What does it give?
Could you update the firmware?

I have tried the blank username and ADMIN for password. I do not get any tabs at all. I will have to try winrar. I used winzip 12, the free 45 day trial. I will have to try later tonight. For just learning English you seem to be doing very well. I do appreciate your help, very much so. I will udpate tonight after trying winrar.

Ok, try also with 7zip (completely free and lighter), and If it really doesn't work, download the V7 or V6...

I do not think I'm using these programs correctly. I d/l the wrt54g firmware and it is d/l as a .bin file. Than i drag and drop the file into 7zip and it does nothing after i hit extract. I opens no new files or extracts any thing different that I can see. What am I doing wrong ?

Hi,
Without "special" passwords, simply trying to configure your router:
Can you access to the tab "administration" then "firmware upgrade"?
I repeat that question again, cause you didn't answer to me, and if you can't (access to this tab) you won't be able to upgrade your router.
As described here...
Have you been exploring this KB? You may find some test to run to know what's going wrong.
You can also test that (I don't think it will change something, but who doesn't try...):
Copy you real Ip you'll find on that page, then paste it in your browser (instead of 192.168.1.1).
I go to sleep, I'm exhausted.
See you tomorrow.
Ps: Try to describe exactly what you see, what you can do and what you can't.
And if you could explain me again, how that was running before you got problems, and what happened...

No admin tab, no tabs at all. I cannot open the .bin files. I do appreciate your help but. My internet is up and running so I think I may step away from this problem. I just wish my router took my password and user name and no problems would have been made.
Thank you again for all your assistance.

Ok, You're the boss :)
One last question:
Are you using a Wireless connection?
Just check if it's activated or not and see if a password is requested to connect.
This thread is not closed.
If a genious' idea come to my brain...
:)
Bye.
