After plugging in the device, go to device manager (In run type "devmgmt.msc") In Device manager go to "Universal serial bus controllers" It should list the storage devices that you have connected to your PC. Right click and then click "Uninstall. Remove the USB drive and restart your system.

Hi there,
Follow the steps, provided by Ambucias. If there is no success, check if the device is visible in Disk Management and if it is there, are there any signs that the drive is not functioning normally, like wrong file format for example. I strongly recommend you to try it on another PC and with another USB cable.
