When the laptop powers up, does the screen turn a lighter black, like a very dark gray? In other words, does the screen seem to power at all. It could be th eback light!

there is no video period that is why I suspect it is the video contolers this is an AM510-U5300A desktop it has been hooked to a couple of monitors and the both show no video and no input.
