Hi wahab,
This works for Sony Laptops ... Hopefully this will solve your issue ...
1 - click on your Start button and then click on "Run". Type "services.msc" (no quotes".
2 - If it is there find the service (in the right hand pane) called "VAIO Event Service" and double click it.
3 - Check that the Startup Type it is "automatic". If it is not, change it to "automatic" and click "apply".
4 - Make sure the Service Status says "Started". If it doesnt click on the "Start" button.
I really appreciate thank you messages as a payment for solving issues :o)

Go to Start, Programs, Samsung, then Easy Display Manager Option.
Make sure that the "Advanced Volume" is enabled. Somehow that also enables the other functions.
you cannot use function key for anything but after enabling advanced volume, the function key was working for brightness, sound, F4, etc.
You also have to make sure that the Magic Keyboard is on.
