Hi there,
Could you tell me your hard drive model? I would recommend you to check the drive on another PC and with another USB cable. Try switching the power supply cable too ( if your external uses a power supply cable). Search for the drive in Disk Management and Device Manager. Does it appear? Are there any clues for errors?
