Hello abbey,
I think the problem that you have is related either to the fan of your laptop or the hard drive. You could try testing your hard disk and connect it as an external drive via a SATA to USB cable. If it works when pulled out, then the problem might be found within the laptop fan or defective motherboard/RAM.
