                    Hello ejoe,
The problem that you have might be due to the video chip failure. Sometimes, after much of a use and less cooling the so called North Bridge desolders itself and the thermic paste has been dried out therefore the screen fails to load video signal. If you posess knowledge of notebooks hardware you can do it yourself, opening the laptop and take a look at the chipset that is next to the processor if has got unsoldered or bring your laptop to a technician to get it soldered again and to the tests.
