I have a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 and I was trying to restore to factory settings. I already restored my T235 with f8 but this didn't seem to work with the A505; it just kept prompting me to enter safe mode or start windows normally. This computer had no viruses and was functioning quite perfectly, I just wanted to restore it to factory settings.

I entered F2 and messed with some of the settings I think, I also created a password which it kept asking me when I was trying to reboot. Finally, what happened after numerous attempts of powering off and holding down various buttons to restore to default factory settings, I end up with a very still computer and cursor on a black screen.

This is a frozen screen unaffected by any button pressing at all. I seem unable to get past this problem. I have found no answers anywhere and the computer does nothing no matter what buttons I hold down and press.

Can anyone help me please?

Hello,

you won't ever get to a recovery screen via F8.

You need to look at how to recovery your computer. Did you get discs? your laptop will have come with instructions on how to recover.

What happens if you hold zero (0) when you turn on the laptop (whilst plugged in).
