Hi,
Yesterday I tried to open my desktop when it was showing
"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media........"
When I am trying to install windows from xp sp2 CD it does shows my HDD space but no partition is visible
"Setup cannot access the disk."
When I press enter to enter the setup, the blue screen which generally appears when there is a low ram is generated.
Please help me out if there is an option other than formatting my HDD. However I can format my HDD but that's the last option.
Desktop specs- Asus P5G41T-MLX3 with lga775 Intel chipset, Intel dual core 3 GHz, samsung 1 tb HDD, 2 GB ram, bios version american megatrends v02.61.
Thanks in advance.

I suspect the hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced.

But its showing my HDD space
"953868 MB DISK 0 AT ID 0 ON BUS 0 ON ATAPI" and then on the next line
"Setup cannot access the disk."
I haven't tried to delete the partition yet. Shall I go for it?

Delete the partition and you have no OS to boot from. You can format the disk and reinstall Windows. But, that hard disk just might fail again at some point. It's safer to replace the hard disk now.

Good Luck

You were right sir. The hard disk is gone. Could you help me out with some reliable external hard disk brands apart from my previous hard disk Samsung which crashed in just 1 yr 3 months.

I have always used Western Digital drives.
