Hey there, jay.
I'd suggest that you try the flash drive with a different computer/device, to see if the same thing happens. If you are still unable to open it, I'd recommend that you try accessing it via Ubuntu Live USB/DVD, to see if it is properly recognized and if you can get to your files. If that doesn't work as well, you could try with data recovery software and hopefully it recovers your files. If none of the above has any success, the only option you'd probably be left with, is data recovery company.
