No sound device

Hello,
i hav a problem in my computer.It says there is no sound device and i m not able to play any audio.i hav both LINUX and Microsoft XP in my system.I m able to play audio in LINUX but not in XP.Why?Can anyone help me to solve me dis pbm.If i re-install my sound card ,Will it be OK?

you should update or re-install your sound driver
