Hello jai,
Can you tell me when did you get this error? Was there any problem with your mouse previously or it stopped working suddenly? Has your laptop experienced any power outage during being switched on?
If you have the option to use the arrow-keys, navigate till the Device manager and try to update the driver of the Pointing devices. If you have a CD with a driver of the mouse, try downloading it from the CD.
