Hi Mbarish,

I would suspect the memory at this stage. Try a memory test - perhaps with Memtest86+. If itfails try removing one of the sticks and test again. If this fails swap the sticks and test again. Having identified the bad stick either replace the failed stick or continue without it.

I hope this helps. Please let us know how you get on.

Did you run a memory test with Memtest86+ yet?

Sorry you are still having issues.

At this point I would start to look at hardware problems. Memtest runs with the minimal of resources so rarely fails to complete. Did you notice any red on the page before it stopped? this would indicate some bad memory, but I fear this is more a motherboard issue.

If you can, take a look at the motherboard. Are any of the capacitors showing signs of leakage, or do they have a domed top? Unless you are good with a soldering iron this would be terminal for the motherboard. A capacitor looks like a cylinder rising vertically from the motherboard. I have a picture of what you dont want to see here ...

You could also try removing everything from the motherboard except the memory, power supply, processor and fan, graphics card if there is no on board one and either the hard drive or DVD drive. You will need either of these to boot your machine - hard drive as normal, or DVD using a "Live" DVD (like memtest). If it works with the rest of the stuff out, then the problem will be with one of the other things that was previously plugged in. Add them one at a time until the problem recurs.

If all this fails, I think a new motherboard would be in order.

Please let me know how you get on.

As there are no Bugcheck codes or PowerButtonTimestamp code (other than 0) the machine did not have enough time to write this data before it shut off. Thus, diagnisis can be very hard. One thing I did see is that this can be caused by a faulty on/off switch. It might be worth removing the leads to the power button and Restart button (if you have one) as soon as it is powered on and see if it powers off again. If it doesnt, suspect the switches/case.

Other things that can cause this behavior (according to Microsoft) are:
  • Overclocking: Disable overclocking to see whether the issue occurs when the system is run at the correct speed.
  • Check the memory: Verify the memory by using a memory checker. Verify that each memory chip is the same speed and that it is configured correctly in the system.
  • Power supply: Make sure that the power supply has enough wattage to appropriately handle the installed devices. If you added memory, installed a newer processor, installed additional drives, or added external devices, such devices can require more energy than the current power supply can provide consistently.
  • Overheating: Check whether the system is overheating by examining the internal temperature of the hardware.

Did you try removing all of the things you dont need? Dont forget to also disconnect everything except the mouse, keyboard, and monitor when you try this.

See i read an article about asus motherboards
It said that you have to change ram settings in AI tweaker to D.O.C.P from auto.. I did that and the time between autorestarts increased but it was still occuring 2-3times an hour.. So this morning i called at asus service center he told me to update BIOS. I did that but since then whenever i try to acces the AI tweaker tab in Adanced settings the PC freezes but all other tabs open normally.. Could u plz tell what this is?

Sorry - I got a bit confused earlier. Are you both Ambarishbh and @mbarish ? OR are you both two different people?

In answer to the question about D.O.C.P - Im not sure. I will research it a bit and get back to you.
