hey;
Just follow the steps below:

Things u NEED:
--WINDOWS XP PRO bootable CD
--Driver CD/Floppy/External Drive (for all the hardware)

1st step --Backup ALL ur data on the current C drive.everything from my documents,my pictures,software installation programs,etc.ELSE YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA WHEN YOU FORMAT
2nd step--Put the XP PRO CD in the CD-ROM and restart the system
3rd step--When the 'Manufacturing Company's logo appears, press F12 immediately(Dell: F12;Gateway(newer): F10;Gateway (older): ESC;HP: ESC;Compaq: ESC;Toshiba: F12)

4th step--You will see a 'Press any key to boot from CD'. Do it
5th step--Windows starts to install
6th step--Windows will ask you which drive you want to install operating system
7th step--If u wanna create partitions,you can follow the instructions given there
8th step--Select the partition(if any) where you want to OS
9th-It'll take approx.39 mins

After XP loads,install drivers from CD/Floppy/External Drive
Thats it......you have a brand new computer
