Asus frozen

Hello,
My Asus computer tries to boot up but during the process a error shows up,"Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We are just collecting some error info and then we will restart." The screen appears to go off for one second, then it displays a statement "Preparing Autorepair" for about 15 seconds. The screen then gets dark and the mouse curser is visible and seems to function. Is there any thing I can try?

If you have the Win 7 DVD you can try a "Windows Repair" by starting windows from the DVD.
