After plugging in the device, go to device manager (In run type "devmgmt.msc") In Device manager go to "Universal serial bus controllers" It should list the storage devices that you have connected to your PC. Right click and then click "Uninstall. Remove the USB drive and restart your system.
Try connecting the device again

Hi Kredd,
I am sorry for any inconveniency caused by your My Book drive. Does the issue still persist? Please open Disk Management and check if the drive is correctly displayed. Does it have a proper file format and a drive letter? Try to assign another letter.
Could you tell me which diagnostic tool you are using to test the drive? I advise you to try Data Lifeguard Diagnostic, the Western Digital tool, but have in mind that it is recommended to test drive if the data is backed up. Testing the drive may cause some heavy usage, which may affect the drive’s performance if there is a problem with the drive. I strongly recommend you to test the drive on another PC and with another cable. Connecting the drive to a Linux OS may be helpful too, so if you have this option, try it.

Hope this helps
