Hello Everybody,

I have copied the recovery partition from my failing hdd using elevated commands to my external hdd. Now from that recovery partition of 14 Gb , how do I proceed to factory reset my laptop with a new hdd, using a bootable usb pen drive for example?
Thanks.

Hi Abhedsc,

The way I see it, the best thing to do is to do a clean installation on the new drive and then copy all the information you need from the old one. Is the old one still usable? Do you have the repair drives that usually come with laptops? If you do not have such discs, check the manufacturer’s web page. There may be similar files in the Downloads section.
I suggest you to check the link below. It is a step by step guide on how to reset a laptop using a recovery partition.

Sadly, I believe the case is a bit different but you me get some good ideas.

Hope this helps
