When you try to turn on, it shows the Dell screen; then it says resuming windows; then the screen goes black and morphs to a dark gray color. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Hello pbren36680,
Please, try to check if the hard drive of your laptop is on the first place in the boot priority of the BIOS. You can do that by restarting the lappy and while it's loading you have to press the respective F or ESC key to enter the BIOS. Then, navigate to the Boot menu and check if you can see the HDD. If it's needed, you have to manually adjust the drive to be on the first place.
Keep me posted on the case.
Cheers.
