Computer starts and shuts after few seconds

Hello,
my computer starts then boot screen comes or few seconds and then it shuts down

Did it ever boot correctly? What has changed? It sounds like the CPU is getting hot, and shutting down to protect itself! Is this a Laptop or a desktop?
