Do you mean windows 10?
yes,the latest Windows. An online update was offered and I just performed without thinking. I guess its Windows 10 then. But I cannot follow the instructions given for previous topics because. after I go to Start, I can see no search box into which I should type cdm or whatever,as helpers suggest. What should I do?

Right-click on the toolbar and you see a cortana section go on it and select search bar and continue with the other forum.

thanx,but when I type cmd a new small window opens and there is no run as an administrator to click on. thats what they are suggesting. choose an option run as an administrator.
