Hello Bart,
Please check if the external hard drive has a drive letter assigned to it. You could do that by going to Disk management menu under the Computer management option. Go there and make a printscreen of what you see. After that, post it back here so I can orient myself. If there's no letter, you have to manually assign a drive letter, but be careful! If it asks you to format the drive, don't do that because it will erase all of your data.
