Ipod touch black screen

Recently my ipod touch stopped working. Despite being plugged in the battery went dead and now when I plug it in nothing happens. It just stays at a black screen. Even tried plugging into computer and nothing. Any way to solve this problem?

Do you have an Apple store handy?

I sounds like you will need to buy a new one.

There is an Apple Store in Burlington but it is not that important that I would buy a new one. A friend of mine is good with electronics so is going to have a look at it. If he can't fix it I will just get rid of it
