HDMI sound not working when laptop plugged into tv

Hello,

I uninstalled Windows 10 on my ASUS laptop and reinstalled Window 7. Played just fine through HDMI before. Now I go to playback devices the HDMI is listed but says t is unplugged and does not allow me to choose it as default. HDMI is plugged in though and works just fine on my other laptop

Hi Amy,

So, right now your TV receives signal from the laptop, but the audio is still coming from the PC, right? If the HDMI option from the Sound menu is grayed out even when the cable is connected, I would say that there may be driver issue. My advice is to open your laptop manufacturer’s web page and search for the updated drivers for Windows 7. Tell me if there is progress.
