Laptop to TV via HDMI: not working?

Hello,

My laptop's screen broke a month ago and I've been trying to connect it to my TV via an HDMI cable. Both devices have an HDMI port.

My computer is an HP with Windows 7 installed. I'm not sure what my TV is, other than an Emerson. I've tried Fn + F4, and it didn't work. I can't see anything on my computer screen so I'm at a bit of a loss otherwise. :[

I tried it on my boyfriend's HDTV and it worked fine, just plugged it in and it came on. And yes, I'm on the HDMI channel.

Can someone please help me?

go into "control panel"
"Personalization"
on the side there is a "connect to a projector or other external display"
this will open a window with things like Display brightness
you'll want the "Display connected", hit Connect Display this should make the TV come on, or it did for me

Hello,
I am having a problem. My laptop LCD screen broke and I don't have the money to replace it, but what I do have is a extra Monitor. I want to hook my laptop up to this monitor but I can't see what I am doing with the screen broken. I wanted to know if there was any buttons I could press to make it show up on the external monitor. Can you rename the inputs on LG Smart TV (WebOS)?

Is there a way to rename the TV inputs so you don't have to remember what input is connected to what? This would be a nice feature to have.

Hello,

I am trying to change name on HDMI 1 from Sky (which I have cancelled) to IPTV which has replaced it. However, when I select to change, HDMI 1 doesn't show, so can't rename it! I can change 2 & 3, but not 1, which is the one I need to change.

Hello,

We disconnected the PS3 from the HDTV to play a blue ray on another HDTV. When we went to switch it back again, the original TV is just displaying a no signal.

No matter the setting, we can't get it to pick up the signal again through the HDMI cable. Any ideas before I go crazy from calling Envision?

Laptop does not start, power LED blinks 3 times and stops.

My dell inspiron 3537 is not starting up. It blinks the power LED 3 times and then the power LED stops blinking and stays on.

It is not showing the charger when I plug it in.
I have tried starting up by removing the battery and using just the charger, the problem stays. Since the power LED blinks when I'm on just charger mode, I don't think there is any problem with the charger.

Please help.

Hello,

I have a Dell Studio 1737 laptop with an HDMI port. I'm trying to connect it to a 42" Vizio HDTV (brand new). It's worked once, but that's it. Not again. I connect the HDMI cable to the TV and it just says "No Signal!"

Please help!
