Thanks for the tip re: Toshiba laptop cursor failure.

I have to admit, read the solution and can't understand how holding a power button on a computer with no electricity can make a difference,
Could you explain why this worked?

the theory is this drains residual electricity that is retaining settings within the motherboard.
