I'm trying to buy a relatively budget laptop for college use, and these Asus ones so far seem to fit the design I want the most. Sleek, small, light.

The E403SA is newer, but runs on eMMC, whereas T300 has SSD. On the other hand, E403SA has a quad core processor, not a dual core. T300 also runs on the older LPDDR3 RAM and E403SA on the DDR3.

Ultimately, what I care about is which of these laptops will run better for daily use and schoolwork. I'm attracted to the T300's touchpad and the fact it can be deconstructed into two, but if it performs much worse, I don't want it.

Are there any other laptops to suggest for me?

I would select the laptop vs the Tablet with keyboard T300. Theis is what PC Mag has to say:

Sometimes what you want is a competent, nice, and not-too-expensive laptop with a decent-size screen for schoolwork, basic image and video editing, or simply surfing the Web. The Asus VivoBook E403SA-US21 checks all these boxes; at $399, it's also one of the least expensive systems we've seen with a full HD display, so it's a good choice if you need the extra working room in a budget desktop-replacement laptop. Our top pick, the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series (3558)$299.00 at Dell has a few advantages over the VivoBook E403SA$418.89 at Amazon, including a lower price, a faster processor, and more memory, but either would be a good selection for an everyday-use PC.

Good Luck
