Laptop not loading not responding

My asus laptop will not load anything . So so slow suddenly . It was working fine and then it suddenly refuses to load past icon screen . No search engines are loading or if they do they take forever. The laptop says " not responding " all the time on all screens . Help !!

Hi

Start by deleting all of your temporary files and defragmenting your hard drive.
