How to recover my WD hard disk drive.

Hi Shantipriya,
I am sorry for any inconveniency caused by your WD drive. Could you please test the drive on another PC and with another USB cable? You are talking about an external drive, right?
Open Disk Management and check if the drive has a correct file format. If there is only a letter assigned, right click the drive and check what options you get. Do not try to format or initialize the drive. I would recommend you to run the Command Prompt as an Administrator and type the following command:
Chkdsk L: /r
Replace the L with the drive’s letter. Wait for the process to end and try to access the files. If nothing happens, I would recommend you to look for a data recovery tool. I leave you some suggestions in the link below:

If you manage to backup the most important files, format the drive and download Data Lifeguard Diagnostic. Check the drive for errors.

If the drive seems in bad condition and is still under warranty, contact the seller. You can check your warranty status on the WD web page:
