Lenovo password issue

When I start up my Lenovo laptop, the password field fills with black dots all the way across. The only way to remedy this is to restart. I have checked to make sure nothing in stuck in the keys but am at a loss. Help! Thank you in advance.

So it repopulates with the asterisks if you hit the back button or delete?

Just when pushing the power button on the password field fills up. It is very strange.

no, it just keeps filling up with asterisks. I have to power down and try again.
