Unable to connect Laptop to Sony Led Tv

Hello,
When I m connecting my hp laptop to Sony Bravia led Tv..in getting Unsupported Signal.Check your device output.
Can anyone help with this??

Change the display settings of the video output. go to control panel, personalization, display, and move the slider to the lowest setting. try it again. Keep moving the setting until it is supported!
