Can i make my laptop turn on when i turn on my monitor?

Is there some way i can make my laptop turn on when i turn on my monitor?
My plan is to hide my laptop on a shelf under my desk and connect it to a monitor. So it will be painful to take my laptop out of the shelf an open up the screen on the laptop every time i want to tuen it on. Is there a solition to my problem?

Ok, you can make a push button on the desk. This button generates a LAN message that says to boot the Laptop via LAN! That is about it! It is going to tkae some hardware and ALOT of administration changes! Other than that, I can't think of a way off the top of my head!
